Wedding Planner or Day of Event Coordinator really needed? After a year and a half of assisting couple’s with their weddings, I have had the pleasure of experiencing first hand the pros and cons of hiring a “Day of Event Coordinator”. It is becoming more common for wedding venues/event centers to require an event coordinator for your event. Most everyone has some sort of budget for their wedding day. I would recommend that you carefully evaluate what is most important to you and allocate your money accordingly. I have seen first hand the stress of brides and their families trying to do things themselves by managing timelines, vendors, caterers, decorations, florals, and much more. By doing this, many miss visiting with family and friends on the wedding day, so exhausted that they have little fuel to really enjoy the event, quite often certain items on the timeline don’t even happen. Hiring someone with experience in this industry can be well worth the money. They will have connections with vendors and will be able to save you not only money but tons of time. Time and I would define this kind of time as precious time that you can never relive. If you can’t afford to hire a coordinator, delegating a responsible person to recruit a crew of volunteers would be wise. There are many small details that wedding planners/coordinators are sure to not overlook. I would say that every wedding with a coordinator is more likely to run smoother than without one hired.
